How To Become Known And Recognized As A Video Game Expert

If you are one of those who can be found playing video games everyday and you have become fairly proficient at it you may want to consider positioning yourself as a video game expert. All you really need is a good overall grasp of a diverse variety of games and the systems they are played on along with a modicum of patience.

Becoming recognized as a video game expert is a little different than other fields, after all there aren't any schools offering accreditation in the field, yet. So how can you establish yourself as an expert, then? The fact of the matter is that if you have mastered numerous games and you can beat the majority of other similarly talented gamers in head to head or online play, then you can probably claim the title of "video game expert".

The gaming industry is much like the online marketing industry that I belong to; if you want to stay at the top of your game you must continually learn and grow. This field is always changing and games get more challenging every year so it is up to you to keep your skills fine tuned so that you can stay near the top of the heap. It will also make you marketable should you decide that you want to be monetarily compensated for your abilities.

Don't fall into the trap of being a hermit and only playing video games though, part of the process of becoming known as an expert gamer is also networking which means that you will have to unplug yourself and get out of the house to meet and network with other like minded gamers. Not only will you meet people who may be able to help you advance your skill but you may also find company representatives at events that are looking for people to play their games in return for money. Yes, believe it or not there are professional game players who are paid to play video games.

If you have made up your mind that you want to pursue this vocation seriously you may be able to find some vocational type classes in your area or online that will help you to become a better and more knowledgeable player. See is you can find a mentor that will help you capitalize on the skills you have acquired; even if you aren't going to make a career of gaming it will still make you that much better as a gamer.

Of course as with any endeavor there are also trade publications and magazines as well as online forums and social networking sites like MySpace that have areas devoted to gamers. If you search online you will find no shortage of information that will help to propel you to the status of expert gamer.
